Mentorship

I develop a research program in observational astrophysics for undergaduate students of all levels and experience. In particular, I have worked with a student to write a short publishable paper on real datasets.

PACE is a graduate student led peer-mentoring program at UCI. The goal of the program is to help graduate students at all levels succeed in grad school, while also teaching our mentors valuable leadership and mentorship skills. In my second year at UCI, I joined the PACE leadership team, and I now help run the program alongside three other team members. Our programs include Exceleration (1-on-1 grad peer mentoring for first-year graduates), Fire Up Fridays (bi-weekly group workshops for incoming grads), and Attitude Thrusters (group workshops for graduates at all levels). PACE is thankful to be funded by the AAS National Osterbrock Leadership Program (NOLP).

As a National Osterbrock Fellow, I work with a community of astronomers striving to educate the field on the various ways graduate students can engage in leadership and DEI efforts at their universities. I have helped organize multiple splinter sessions at AAS meetings, as well as a white paper on reinventing the astronomy Ph.D. to foster valuable professional skills both inside and outside of academia.

As an undergraduate at Arizona State University, I served as a peer mentor for incoming students in the School of Earth and Space Exploration, advising them on coursework and research opportunities as they found their footing in the department. It was one of my first tastes of mentorship, and it's stuck with me ever since.
